Identify Requirements

Cornerstone Systems can offer your business a high quality operating system migration. The migration can be from any release of z/OS or from a different operating system, such as VSE, VM or z/VM. We begin with a comprehensive evaluation of your companies existing mainframe system software. This includes a review of the IBM® and ISV software maintenance levels, security profile, interactive user requirements and the customization requirements, such as the source modifications, exits and customized commands and reports currently in use.

 

If the migration is for an upgrade of z/OS, IBM will be contacted to determine if any toleration maintenance is required. The vendors for all licensed third party software products will also be contacted to determine the version, release and maintenance levels required to be compatible with the new operating system release. The objective of this phase is to identify all the requirements for a migration to the new operating system.


Software Installation
The
new software will be installed, customized and tested. If toleration maintenance is required, it will be installed, tested and implemented on the existing system. The base operating system and the latest maintenance will be installed in a test environment, such as a test LPAR or VM guest. All of the customization requirements identified in the previous phase will be addressed and tested.
